Dr. Chandler is a Professor of Chemistry at Trinity University. He did his undergraduate work in Chemistry at Georgia Southern University, earned a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry with Lou Pignolet at the University of Minnesota, and a had a postdoctoral fellowship in Chemical Engineering at the University of South Carolina working with Mike Amiridis. He began at Trinity University as an Assistant Professor in 2001 and was promoted to Professor in 2012. His research lab has focused on integrating postdoctoral fellows into a primarily undergraduate research environment, to provide a unique, high quality undergraduate research experience.
Dr. Chandler's primary teaching interests are in Inorganic Chemistry, General Chemistry, and Chemical Kinetics. Postdocs working with Dr. Chandler have significant opportunities to gain teaching experience, particularly in the Inorganic lecture and lab classes. He is incorporating a number of active learning techniques in his lecture and lab classes, and places a strong emphasis on developing "soft skills" in addition to traditional content.
